Carl Barât @ Shepherd's Bush Empire, London

Carl Barât & Friends
On a night of many support acts that failed to hold our interest (bar The Rifles), Carl Barât arrived on stage to fans chanting "Carlos! Carlos!" with a grin on his face, and soon had them in a frenzy when the band dropped into a Dirty Pretty Things favourite, 'Bang Bang You're Dead'.

With a mixed set list including The Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things, and solo material, Barât fans were in their element as all their favourites were performed just as they should be, with energy and meaningfulness.

The set ended with an encore of 'Deadwood' and 'I Get Along' after the crowd were left wanting more. "I get along, just singing my song, people tell me I'm wrong.. FUCK 'EM" rung through the ears of every fan in the audience as their trilbys were knocked off their head in a moshpit.

As the gig ended, it was clear that the band members enjoyed it as much as the crowd did, with Gary Powell (Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things drummer) stating "It's been too long" to the ever faithful crowd and then danced his way off the stage to a wave of cheers.

Mr Barât, thank you.
